Department HQ Volunteer Sign-Up Form
The American Legion Family – Thank you for being a member of our great organization – The American Legion. Since 1919, millions of veterans, spouses, and children have not merely joined an organization but have answered the call to serve. Not only have we pledged an oath to our nation, but we remain dedicated to service to our local communities.
The American Legion Department of Ohio has volunteer opportunities available to members of The American Legion. This year, our National Executive Committee adopted a new mission and vision statement. Vision Statement: ” The American Legion strengthens America by improving the lives of our veterans, the military, and their families.” Mission Statement: The American Legion strengthens our communities, states, and nation with programs and services for our veterans, the military, and their families. Our local post take on the mission of strengthening our nation with programs and services for our veterans, military, and their families.
Post operate programs like Buckeye Boys State, Americanism & Government Test, Gifts for Yanks, funeral honors, blood drives, and temporary financial aid. Our team at Department HQ assists our local post in carrying out the mission of The American Legion. The American Legion Department of Ohio is currently offering volunteer opportunities for three projects that are crucial in efforts to expand our capacity to assist our local post.
- 1. Post Selection Sheet Information Phone Survey The membership team has launched a project to market our local post to at-large members of our organization. For this project to be successful, we must have a 100% response rate. Volunteers will call Post Adjutants to present the survey via phone and will input the responses into a digital form. To be a successful volunteer, one must provide friendly customer service, previous experience with computers, and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- 2. Project Reinstate 888 The membership team offers an opportunity for Legionnaires to call expired (not paid for 2020 or before) at-large members to reinstate their membership. To be a successful volunteer, one must have a passion for The American Legion, provide friendly customer service, willingness to listen, and previous experience using an internet browser. Legionnaires will have the opportunity to participate in the individual membership recruiter drawing, which offers a chance to receive $100 prize at the Mid-Winter or Department Convention.
- 3. Buckeye Boys State Alumni Database Project The Buckeye Boys State program is digitizing the Buckeye Boys State Alumni Database. It offers an opportunity for The American Legion Family and Buckeye Boys State Alumni to enter data from a hard copy sheet into a Microsoft Excel workbook. A successful volunteer will have experience with Microsoft Office Suite and type words of moderate to expert speed.
I strongly encourage members of our organization to take advantage of opportunities to serve your Post, District, or your Department. If you have any questions, please contact our team at Department HQ by phone at 740-362-7478 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
